Former National Australia Dealer Jailed for Insider Trading

A former National Australia Bank Ltd. trader and an employee of the nations statistics bureau were jailed on Tuesday after pleading guilty in the worst case of insider trading heard by an Australian court.
Ex-trader Lukas Kamay, 26, was sentenced to seven years and three months in prison, while former Australian Bureau of Statistics analyst Christopher Hill, 25, was jailed for three years and three months, according to the Supreme Court of Victoria.
The pair, who met while studying economics and commerce at university, made profits of about A$7 million ($5.3 million) as Kamay used sensitive economic data handed to him by Hill to make bets in the foreign exchange market.
