5 supermodels who are multimillionaires from their second careers

Gisele Bündchen has announced that she’s walked her final runway. But if history serves as a guide, she may end up swapping the catwalk for a career as an entrepreneur. Many models have thriving second careers in all sorts of businesses, from the fashion industry to entertainment. For some models, it seems like the real purpose of the runway is to get their name (and face) out there. And once their “brand” is established, the real business can begin. Consider these examples… Heidi Klum

The German-born model came to fame through her appearances on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue and her 13-year stint as a Victoria’s Secret “angel.” But these days, she’s less an angel than a businesswoman. Klum, 41, has worked in television as a producer and host of the “Project Runway” series (she won an Emmy for her efforts). She’s also launched a jewelry collection on QVC, designed footwear for Birkenstock and created clothing for Jordache. Oh, and she served as the Barbie toy line’s ambassador. More recently, she joined the “America’s Got Talent” series as a judge. Forbes once put her earnings at $20 million a year. Klum has said the key to her success is having “a strong desire…to always do better than the last time, try something new and not be afraid to fail.”
