Trading Futures
Posted on 13:15 by nice news
J16 and supply and demand trading have comprised most of my trading experience over the last several years. Recently I came across a couple of threads where the thread starters traded mostly futures using supply and demand levels with volume spread analysis (VSA). Margin requirements, commissions and $/tick on futures can be a bit heavy for some if trading futures and I think that explains why there are not too many future trading threads on FF. The use of volume with FOREX is troublesome. However with futures volume is reliable. In full disclosure I am learning to trade futures so for the time being I will be showing trades or charts from a demo account.
FOREX can be traded as futures. They are all paired with the USD. So one can trade EUR, GBP, CHF. JPY, CAD, AUD, NZD, etc. So this thread will contain FOREX futures also. Not just stock indexes and such.
I will not be providing too much information on VSA as I am just learning this also. There are other threads on FF that quite adequately go over this. I will however given explanation of why I entered a trade by providing candle analysis in the context of volume as best I understand it. I may be wrong so please be advised.
I will be using supply/demand levels on various time frames. I am not here to explain the concepts of supply and demand. Again there are other threads that explain that in depth.
This is a 5minute chart of the emini Nasdaq 100 index. The Nasdaq is very active at the open of the US markets and seems to provide ample opportunity during the early part of the day in the US.
